Senator Rubio Sets the Stage for a Comeback

It’s no surprise, the Republican Party is energized and ready to win the midterm elections in 8 short months, but Senator Marco Rubio has set his sights on 2016.

Last July Senator Rubio fell from grace as he alienated his Conservative base with his dogmatic stance on immigration; but don’t write him off just yet. Last week at the Conservative Political Action Conference (aka: CPAC) in Washington, DC Rubio laid the ground work for a comeback.

Last week at CPAC, Senator Rubio spoke and rallied the crowd as he redefined America’s approach to foreign affairs and the importance of keeping America dominate on the world stage.

“There is only one nation on Earth capable of rallying and bringing together the free people on this planet to stand up to the spread of totalitarians. The United Nation cannot do this — in fact, they cannot do anything,” Rubio said.

While Rubio received a warm welcome at CPAC and offered insight on his stance on foreign policy as well as solutions to problems plaguing the current administration, the question still remains, will he be able to woo himself back into the good graces of the GOP in time to be a viable candidate in 2016?

According to the annual straw poll at CPAC, Rubio has his work cut out for him. Senator Rubio placed a distant 7th among presidential hopefuls for 2016. Even though we are still months out from 2016 elections, Rubio will have to work hard to win back Conservative voters if he wants to stand a fighting chance as a presidential contender.

In an effort to win back his base, Rubio is going back to his conservative roots and has been working diligently to broaden his domestic and foreign policy portfolio. From headlining fundraisers to playing a big role in key midterm campaigns, Rubio is proving to be on the right path.

GOP leaders have taken notice of Rubio’s efforts to rehab his image and are slowly warming up to the idea of Rubio in 2016. At this point it’s still too far out to tell if Rubio’s image overhaul is successful, but one thing’s for certain, he’s headed in the right direction.
