Crist Goes on the Defensive in New Ad
The Crist campaign released a new ad Thursday titled, “Again.” The ad will run exclusively online and in the social media space. It tackles healthcare, the hot-button issue that is sure to be on every voter’s mind this November.
In an interview on CNN earlier this month, Charlie Crist defended President Barack’s health care overhaul, saying “it’s been great” for the state despite a difficult rollout. But now it seems he is changing his tune.
Crist attacks Governor Rick Scott’s position on healthcare in his latest ad. In the video the announcer asks, “The Governor you can trust to work with both sides to fix the problem or the one you can’t trust at all?” Does this mean Charlie Crist is changing his mind on healthcare and admitting it’s broken? This would be no surprise, as Crist has proven himself to be a political opportunist and his stance on issues change quicker than most fashion trends.
The move to distance himself from Obamacare would be wise; as earlier this month, Republican David Jolly upset former state CFO Alex Sink in a special congressional election after criticizing her support for Obamacare. However, if Crist moves too far right he might find himself without a supporting party.
Even though, President Obama offered yet another extension on enrollment for Obamacare, many Democrats are still in denial about the efficacy of the new healthcare law. The bottom line is, it’s going to take a lot more than a book tour and a few media appearances for Crist to win over Floridians who are suffering at the hands of Obama’s failed healthcare system.
