Blaise Ingoglia Wins RPOF Chairman Race

The Chairman’s race for the Republican Party of Florida was a crowded field. With three candidates vying for the title Chairman, GOP members across the state converged in Orlando over the weekend to elect a new chair.

Having served as Chairwoman since May, Leslie Dougher hit the ground running and brought home a win for Governor Scott and Republicans across the sunshine state. This morning, in a run off, Chairwoman Dougher lost to newly elected Florida House member and RPOF Vice Chair, Blaise Ingoglia.

In his acceptance speech newly elected Ingoglia promised to turn Florida red in 2016 and to “take back the White house in 2016.” As former Vice Chair, Blaise now must step up and put his money where his mouth is. Even with Obama’s approval rating in the tank and Republicans controlling Congress, 2016 is not a slam-dunk for a GOP win.

With the presidential elections right around the corner, Blaise is going to have little time to adjust to his new role as Chairman. Instead he will have his hands full between serving in the Florida legislature, and being the Chairman of a state party that could be home to a presidential candidate. That’s a steep learning curve, but if anyone was up for challenge it is, Blaise Ingoglia.
