MySpace, MyCandidate?
The new MySpace was released in beta version a couple weeks ago.
The sleek, modern UI design and Justin Timberlake’s seal of approval, the new MySpace is geared toward musicians, artists, and other creative types.
How will this compete in the social space? From where I sit right now, it looks like MySpace is working hard to be different like every other new social media site. While MySpace is not new, founded in 2003, it has undergone a facelift and burst back on the scene offering users a way to connect with creative types and share music.
The hook here is music. The question is, will the site succumb to corporate America and election antics like every other social site?
If MySpace wants to stay relevant past music sharing and funny gifs, then it will find a foothold in the campaign season. And if it doesn’t, I am confident some operative will figure out how to flip a candidate MySpace page into a multi-million dollar fundraising platform for the upcoming election season.
